ICIA-ISLI RA Held ISLI Promotion Meeting at National Library of Korea

ICIA-ISLI RA delegates held ISLI promotion meeting at National Library of Korea(NLK) on 10th April, 2018. The representatives of NLK, together with the heads of ISNI, ISSN, ISBN and DOI registration agency in Korea, participated in the meeting.
NLK serves as the registration agency of multiple international standard identifiers of ISO/TC46/SC9 in the region of Korea. NLK is the unique registration agency of ISSN and ISBN in Korea except DOI, and which is also the main registration agency of ISNI in Korea.
The meeting, which aims to promote ISLI application in Korea, was organized by Mr.Sam Gyun Oh who is the consultant of ICIA-ISLI RA.
In December 2017, Sam was invited to visit the headquarter of ICIA in Hong Kong while he expressed that he was willing to organize a promotion meeting in Korea for ICIA. He was the former president of ISO/TC46/SC9. He is also the professor of Sungkyunkwan University, the consultant of ICIA-ISLI RA and the expert in the field of information and documentation.
During the meeting, Sam firstly introduced the application and management of international standard identifiers in Korea to ICIA-ISLI RA delegates. Then he analyzed the feasibility of ISLI application in Korea and expressed optimism over its implementation. Later, Mr TengXiYi, the Deputy Secretary General of ICIA, made a presentation of ISLI standard with application demo to all participants. After the presentation , the heads of ISNI, ISSN, ISBN and DOI registration agency in Korea showed their great interest in ISLI standard and had a animated discussion with ICIA-ISLI RA delegates on ISLI implementation in Korea and the interoperability between ISLI and other identifiers.
The meeting marks ISLI is going to enter the Korea market soon.
