ICIA-ISLI RA Attended the 45th ISO/TC46 Plenary Meeting

The 45th ISO/TC46 Plenary Meeting held by Portugal national library (Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal) in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 14th— 18th, 2018, opened at 10am local time, on May 14th.
ICIA, as a Category A-Liaison organization of ISO/TC46/SC9 and ISLI RA, attended the meeting. The delegates of ICIA include Rick LYU (Vice Chairman and CTO of ICIA, assigned expert of SAC), Miley ZUO (Secretary-General of ICIA and CEO of ISLI RA), Alaxiz LI (COO of ISLI RA) and Josie QIU (ISLI RA officer).
The ISO/TC46 Plenary is an annual general meeting of a week - long. It is convened and presided over by ISO/TC46, and is undertaken by ISO/TC46 national member bodies. The participants of the plenary are ISO/TC46 member organizations and institutions, category A liaison organizations, and persons in charge, representatives, or experts from registration and application management organizations related to international standard within the scope of ISO/TC46. The plenary aims to coordinate and promote the development and revision of standards by the working groups of the Technical Committee, communicate and capture the application of published international standards and the proposal of new standards, and determine and issue the resolutions of ISO/TC46 Information and Documentation Technical Committee.
More than 80 representatives attended the plenary this year. During the plenary, nearly 40 meetings were held to discuss relevant topics in the field of information and documentation and clarified the future work deployment, with different themes including the technical interoperability within TC46 SC4, Identification and description of SC9, physical storage of documentation in SC10, archive and document management in SC11.
As one of the identifier registration authorities under ISO/TC46/SC9, ICIA-ISLI RA participated in several meetings under the framework of TC46/SC9 including Identifier principle meeting, chair’s advisory group meeting, RA report template meeting and TC46/SC9 plenary and TC46 plenary. During the RA report template meeting, ICIA-ISLI RA made the suggestion on when to submit the annual RA report to ISO. The suggestion was adopted by participants.
During the plenary, in addition to attending a series of relevant working meetings, ICIA representatives seized any chance to communicate with relevant personnel from other registration agencies of international standard identifier and other technical committees, to actively promote the functions and benefits of ISLI link in response to latest appication of relevant international standards. Meanwhile, ICIA-ISLI RA expressed its willingness to interconnect and cooperate with other registration authorities and to provide ISLI link service for the international standard identifiers.
Our hard works paid off and our sincerity harvested friendship. The plenary made a big step forward for ISLI application and laid a solid foundation for ISLI promotion and application through the world.
