ICIA-ISLI RA presided consultancy meeting during the 45th ISO/TC46 plenary

The 45th ISO/TC46 Plenary Meeting was held by Portugal national library (Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal) in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 14th to 18th ,2018. During the plenary, ICIA-ISLI RA took the opportunity to hold an expert consultancy meeting as usual according to the past practice.
The expert consultancy meeting was held at 10:00 am on May 15th at the hotel conference room where ICIA-ISLI RA personnel lived.
Mr. Li Zhengfang, the president of ICIA, made a special trip to attend this expert consultancy meeting for the appointment made several months ago, when he met Sam, an ICIA consultant visited Hong Kong ICIA headquarters before. This is also the first time that Mr. Li Zhengfang has attended the ICIA-ISLI RA expert consultancy meeting.
Stella Griffiths, Chairperson of TC46/SC9 and Executive Director of international ISBN Registration Authority; Todd Carpenter, Secretary of TC46/SC9; Sam Oh, former Chairperson and Senior Expert of ISO/TC46/SC9 Secretariat Support Team; Paul Jessop, Senior Expert of ISO/TC46/SC9 and Head of International DOI Registration Authority; Brain Green, Senior Expert of ISO/TC46/SC9 and former Executive Director of international ISBN Registration Authority; CAI Xun, assigned expert of ISO/TC46/SC9 member SAC and Chief Expert of China Working Group for drafting ISLI standard. All the ICIA-ISLI RA expert consultants above attended the meeting.
As the meeting began, President Li Zhengfang first expressed his gratitude to all expert consultants for their enthusiasm and support for the work of the ICIA-ISLI RA and the promotion and application of the ISLI. Later he elaborated the perceiving and understanding of the purpose and desire of hosting ISLI RA on the background and original intention of ICIA to all the participated expert consultants. It is hoped that the expert consultants will continually care and support the ICIA-ISLI RA as they always have and use their unique advantages to provide advice and suggestions for ICIA-ISLI RA and contribute to the wide application of ISLI. The expert consultants at the meeting discussed the application of ISLI in many classifications in the field of information and documentation, and put forward valuable suggestions. They also expressed their willingness to promote the application of ISLI in those standard identifiers that they are engaged in and are familiar with, also to promote the integration and widely use of ISLI with other standard identifiers. The meeting also had a lively discussion on the ISLI promoting direction and new application areas of ISLI and the next step of ICIA's work.
