ICIA attends the 56th Bologna Children's Book Fair annually

The 56th Bologna Children’s Book Fair is hold on April 1-4, as an annual key event for publishers, authors, illustrators, literary agents, distributers, developers, translators, librarians, teachers, and all professionals involved in the world of publishing and content for children. ICIA sent representatives to join in this great industrial occasion as usual.

 

 

The host says this year will receive guests and attendees from 80 countries and it is very likely to have more people than last year since the number of BCBF visitors continually grows in recent years. As a surprise to all exhibitors, two new halls(hall 29 and 30 ) have been rebuilt and added into the whole place, with €138 million of reconstruction, making the fair bigger and better. People are gathering in Bologna to experience the latest publishing trends, attend over 250 workshops and conferences, and explore across 6 huge halls of over 20,000 square meters of exhibition space.

 

 

Bologna Children's Book Fair has always been the most strategic professional platform for international publishing, appreciated by players worldwide, and a unique event for copyright trade, for analyzing the current situation and figuring out the directions of creativity worldwide, anticipating trends in illustration and literature, for both physical and digital publications. Following the recurring theme of "Staging children's content", many new features lead to discovering innovations and endless variations in children's contents. Besides, "The Kids Want Mobile" the most important European conference for app developers comes to Bologna for the very first time.

 

 

The main 2019 themes are the words and colors of the African American culture, the return of handwriting, women and "great women" in children's literature, international illustration.
