On April 3, 2017 Bologna Children’s Book Fair opens, as service provider and observer of global information content industry, ICIA delegated Membership Department to visit and communicate in the Fair, and exchanged views with publishing groups, institutions and exhibitors from all over the world to know the latest development trends of publishing industry, meanwhile, ICIA introduced ISLI standard and its related services it's engaged in now to them. The Fair lasts 4 days and ends on April 6.
Bologna Children’s Book Fair was initiated in 1964, and is the most important international event dedicated to the children’s books and multimedia industry. Authors, illustrators, literary agents, licensors and licensees, program producers, printers, distributors, booksellers, librarians and relevant professionals from across the world flock to Bologna every year to participate in the show and conduct copyright trade or other publishing events. The Fair has now developed to be largest, most authoritative and influential children's book fair and annual children's book exposition.
According to the introduction of head of ICIA Membership Department, the Fair attracted more than 1300 exhibitors from 80 countries. What makes the 2017 Fair different is that Hachette and many other publishers unveiled their latest eBook catalogues, there are plenty of best-selling and classical children's books among them. The progressive development of information industry makes digital publishing an important branch of advance in global book industry, unquestionably, it will influence the market strategy of children's book industry.
From April 3 to April 4, head of ICIA Membership Department met staff from presses and communicated with them, introduced about International Information Content Industry Association (ICIA) , ISLI standard and its industry application. Ms Tanja Brikenstock, copyright manager from Arena Verlag(Germany), and Ms Carole Boutin, rights manager from Groupe Librex(France), both expressed their interest in ICIA and looked forward to further communication with ICIA. Boxer Books(UK) and Jessica Kingsley(UK) showed their interest in copyright trade services and invited head of ICIA Membership Department to have further negotiation. Some publishers hoped that ICIA could help them promote their books in China or to different countries in the world.
On April 5, head of ICIA Membership Department visited exhibitors with ICIA membership, including Aadarsh(India), EDEBE(Spain) and LIBSA(Spain). She detailed the work and progress of ICIA and the promotion of ISLI in China to them, and inquired their real business needs. Member were happy to be kept posted about the progress of the Association, and to have face-to-face discussion regarding the current problems in publishing with ICIA.
ICIA team wrapped up a successful trip to Bologna on April 6.
